Baku. 3 September. REPORT.AZ / Uzbekistan intends to join the Cooperation Council of the Turkic-speaking States (CCTS). Report informs citing the Kyrgyz Telegraph Agency (Kirtag), President of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbay Jeenbekov told during the VI summit of the heads of Turkic-speaking States in Cholpon-ATA.

"I am sure that today's summit will raise the centuries-old friendship of the Turkic-speaking States to a different level and open a new page. On behalf of the CCTS member-states, I would like to welcome President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, who is among us. I would like to note and support Uzbekistan's intention to join the Turkic Council as a member-state. This step will create favorable conditions for the expansion of our Union, increase its credibility in the international arena," Sooronbay Jeenbekov said.

The Kyrgyz leader warmly welcomed Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, who is also an honorary guest, noting that Hungary receives an observer status in the Turkic Council at today's summit.
