Uzbekistan: Confirmed coronavirus cases hit 1,800

Over the past day, 20 people have tested positive for coronavirus in Uzbekistan, Report says, citing the country’s Health Ministry.

Thus, the number of confirmed cases has risen to 1,778 in the Central Asian country. So far, 561 people have recovered, while seven people died.

Notably, the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) emerged in late 2019 in China’s Hubei province, and the virus has spread to 210 countries and territories since then.

To date, COVID-19 cases surpassed 2 726 000 globally, resulting in more than 749 539 recoveries and over 191 063 deaths.

On February 11, the WHO officially named the 2019 novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) as COVID-19, and on March 11, declared it a pandemic.

The coronavirus infection began to spread in December last year in the Chinese city of Wuhan. More than 210 countries and regions reported on confirmed cases.

The number of people infected with coronavirus in the world so far has exceeded 2,726,000. Of these, 749,539 recovered, and 191,063 died.

The World Health Organization (WHO) named the infection COVID-19 on February 11, and on March 11, declared the coronavirus a pandemic.
