US to send over 500 tons of humanitarian aid to Türkiye

The ship "Nevzat Kalkavan" left the US Port of Elizabeth (New Jersey) for the Turkish port of Mersin, Report informs citing TRT Haber.

The vessel will deliver 420 tons of humanitarian aid to the earthquake-affected Turkish regions.

Turkish Ambassador to Washington Hassan Murat Merkan and Consul General to New York Reyhan Ozgur attended the ceremony of sending the ship with humanitarian aid.

The Turkish Ambassador said that 42 containers of humanitarian aid would arrive in Mersin within 20 days.

Besides, a cargo plane carrying about 100 tons of humanitarian aid will leave for Türkiye on February 20.

Ten aid collection centers were organized throughout the United States, including New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Delaware.
