“It is very important that all countries continue to step up their efforts to achieve the goals of the agreement,” Dujarric said in an interview with the agency.

Earlier, the General Assembly of the Grand National Assembly (Parliament) of Turkey adopted a bill on the ratification of the Paris Climate Accords.

The Paris Agreement is an agreement under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change that will regulate measures to reduce carbon dioxide in the atmosphere from 2020. The agreement was prepared to replace the Kyoto Protocol during the Paris Climate Change Conference and was adopted by consensus on December 12, 2015, and signed on April 22, 2016.

The aim of the agreement is to “step up implementation” of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, in particular to keep the global average temperature rise “well below” 2 °C and “make efforts” to limit the temperature rise to 1.5 °C.

Turkey signed the agreement at the 21st Session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change on April 22, 2016.
