From the start of Russia’s hostilities in Ukraine on February 24 to March 19, 902 civilians have died in the country, Report informs citing UNIAN that the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights said.

In total, the UN recorded 2,361 civilian casualties - 902 killed and 1,459 wounded.

"A total of 902 people were killed (179 men, 134 women, 11 girls and 25 boys), as well as 39 children and 514 adults, whose gender is still unknown," the report says.

In Donetsk and Luhansk regions: 992 injured (248 killed and 744 wounded). There are 756 casualties (195 killed and 561 injured) in government-controlled territory. On the territory controlled by the so-called LNR - 236 victims (53 killed and 183 wounded).

Losses in such regions as Kyiv, Cherkasy, Chernihiv, Kharkiv, Kherson, Kyiv, Mykolaiv, Odesa, Sumy, Zaporizhzhia, Dnepropetrovsk, and Zhytomyr regions – 1,369 people (654 killed).

"Most of the recorded civilian casualties occurred as a result of the use of explosive weapons with a large area of destruction, including shelling from heavy artillery and multiple launches from missile systems, rocket and air strikes," the UN noted.
