Ukraine now needs $9bn a month to plug the budgetary shortfall

Ukraine now needs $9bn a month from its western backers to plug the budgetary shortfall, Oleg Ustenko, an economic adviser to president Volodymyr Zelenskyy, told Financial Times.

The finance ministry said its assessment of the gap was still $5bn a month but even that is way more than western capitals have so far provided. “For the next months, we have to receive $9bn per month instead of $5bn,” Ustenko said.
