The U.S. makes no exceptions to the sanctions against Iran for neighboring and other countries and will apply them in the case of any activity that the U.S. considers prohibited.

Report informs, citing TASS, U.S. Special Representative for Iran Brian Hook made the statement at a briefing for foreign journalists.

"We impose sanctions on any activity that is subject to sanctions. It is our policy, and it applies in all cases, and there are no exceptions to it," he said, commenting on how other countries in the region who want to build relations with Iran can avoid U.S. sanctions.

According to him, in some cases, the U.S. imposes sanctions directly against individuals and legal entities from Iran, but there are also secondary sanctions.

"This policy of primary and secondary sanctions has existed for some time, and we are not making any exceptions to it," Hook explained.
