Turkiye expects Sweden to fulfill commitments to fight terror

Turkiye expects from Sweden the strict fulfillment of all commitments to counter terrorism, which are provided for by the memorandum signed with it. Otherwise, it will not approve the application for its entry into NATO, deputy head of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) Numan Kurtulmus said while commenting on the scandalous action with the public burning of the Koran in Stockholm, Report informs referring to Turkish media.
"We are not against Sweden's entry into NATO. However, if this continues, Turkiye will under no circumstances approve Sweden's entry into the North Atlantic Alliance," he said.
On January 21, the Stockholm authorities allowed a protest rally near the Turkish embassy. During the rally, the Koran was burned.
