Turkey sends note to Austria for Bozkurt ban

Baku. 14 February. REPORT.AZ/ The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkey sent a protest note to the Austrian parliament regarding the Bozkurt symbol.

Report informs citing the Hurriyet that the Bozkurt sign was included in the same list as the PKK terrorist group in the bill “Symbol Act” adopted by the Austrian Parliament.

The Turkish Foreign Ministry said that it is unacceptable and strongly condemns this step of the Austrian parliament. The ministry called the attitude by Austrian supreme legislature against Bozkurt symbol as "populist" and the incident that may create a scandal. It was noted that this bill adopted by the parliament, will come into force on March 1, 2019.

By this illogical decision, Austria targets entire political system and the basis of the legal policy, not only the parties and its supporters who used this sign. This step of Austria will have a serious negative impact on our bilateral relations. It is expected that Austria will change its restricted policy populism will refuse this way. It is important that our relationships will be based on healthy mind, but not fanaticism and populism”.
