Participants in a mass protest rally in Georgia’s Tbilisi are gathering in Freedom Square to demand the release of former President Mikheil Saakashvili.
As the local bureau of Report informs, at present protesters are chanting "Misha!" slogan from several directions. Opposition groups and supporters of the third president are taking part in the rally organized by the United National Party.
Numerous participants with "Freedom to Misha!" slogan are attending the rally and Saakashvili's appeal will be sounded there.
The city's central road from Republic Square to Freedom Square has been closed a few hours ago. Additional police and special forces have been mobilized around the square.
Saakashvili was detained on October 1 in Tbilisi. He is currently in Rustavi prison and has been on a hunger strike for 14 days.
