Stoltenberg: War in Ukraine will last long

"Ukraine will need long-term support," NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said while addressing the Alliance, TASS reports.

"I urge you to be ready for this," he stressed.

The secretary-general noted that during the 13-week war, Russia made grave strategic mistakes:

"President Vladimir Putin failed to carry out his plan of rapid occupation. At the same time, Ukraine has proved that it is ready and able to resist."

Stoltenberg said that NATO's main task is to help Ukraine in the long run:

"That is why I urge allies to increase supplies. The war will be long. Therefore, NATO's first task is to support Ukraine for a long time. Because it is becoming a more and more exhausting war."

The secretary-general reiterated that NATO is not on either side of the conflict and does not want to increase tensions.
