Details have emerged in connection with the death of Russian Emergencies Minister Yevgeny Zinichev.
Report informs, citing TASS, that Zinichev died during the drills in the Arctic city of Norilsk as he was saving the life of famous Russian film director Alexander Melnikin, the ministry reported on Wednesday.
According to the information, Melnikin, who came to Norilsk to shoot a film, slipped on the ice and fell into the water.
At seeing this, the minister jumped to rescue Melnikin but hit a stone.
Both died as a result.
Russian President Vladimir Putin earlier extended condolences to Zinichev's relatives.
