Over the past 24 hours, 1,459 people were diagnosed with coronavirus in Russia, while 13 others died from the illness.

The total number of COVID-19 cases increased by 16.8% to 10,131, while the death toll reached 76 and recoveries stand at 698 in Russia.

Moscow is the worst-hit city with 857 cases.

Russia reported its first case on January 31.

The novel coronavirus (COVID-19) emerged in late 2019 in China’s Hubei province, and the virus has spread to 209 countries and territories since then.

To date, COVID-19 cases surpassed 1,500,000 globally, resulting in more than 330,000 recoveries and over 88,000 deaths.

On February 11, the WHO officially named the 2019 novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) as COVID-19, and on March 11, declared it a pandemic.
