Turkish FM: Recognition of Armenian genocide by US senate is an attempt to undermine efforts to develop relations between Ankara and Washington

The US Senate’ s resolution on recognizing the so-called "Armenian genocide" lacks a legal basis and is aimed at undermining efforts to develop Turkish-American relations, Report informs citing the Turkish Foreign Ministry.

"The US Senate’s resolution on the events of 1915 lacks historical credibility and legal basis. This is one example of how history can be politicized. The decision is also a devastating attempt to undermine efforts to develop relations between Turkey and the United States," the statement said.

"Those who use history for their political purposes will never achieve their goals by ignoring the facts, the Turkish foreign Ministry said. "Turkey's struggle to protect its vital interests in the region will resolutely continue despite such unjust and unjustified decisions," the Turkish Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
