Rate of suicide among children up in Russia

In the last three years, the number of suicides and suicide attempts in children in Russia has increased by 13%, said Commissioner for Children's Rights in Russia Maria Lvova-Belova.

Thus, suicides and attempts increased from 3,253 to 3,675 in the last three years. In addition, multiple suicide attempts increased from 188 to 362, in other words, to 92.5%.

The Commissioner for Children's Rights, referring to the indicators of the country's Investigative Committee, said that in 2021, compared to 2020, the number of suicides among minors increased by 37.4% and reached 753. 788 cases of suicide among children were registered in 2018, 737 in 2019, and 548 in 2020.

There is no information about child suicide in 2021 in the Federal Service for State Statistics of Russia.
