President's office says NATO could help Ukraine more actively

NATO does not close the airspace of Ukraine, Mykhaylo Podolyak, Advisor to the Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, said in an interview with the BBC News.

He said 10 million people are forced to flee, including 3 million people who have already gone abroad. The official called it a humanitarian catastrophe in Europe.

The president's office believes that NATO could help Ukraine more actively in the war with Russia and not just voice words of support and solidarity.

He said though Ukraine is not a member of NATO, the war is going on in Europe, and Ukraine did not provoke the Russians, whatever Russia says.

Today, millions of people are forced to flee because rockets are falling on their homes, he said, calling on NATO to close the skies over Ukraine.

According to him, Ukraine does not want NATO to interfere in the processes, but the alliance should contribute to solving humanitarian problems from the point of view of European security.

NATO should take more intensive steps to prevent Russian aggression, Podolyak said.
