Peskov: Armenia's desire to join EU is its sovereign right, but its people still benefit from EAEU

The desire to join the European Union is Armenia's sovereign right, but the people of this country continue to receive dividends from membership in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), Russian Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov said, Report informs.

"This is Armenia's sovereign right, but Armenians and others need to determine whether this is a mutual desire and how Europeans themselves view this," he said.

Peskov noted that there are political forces in Armenia that believe alignment with the European Union will provide additional benefits for the country and its people, without having a clear understanding of whether the EU itself is interested in this.

According to Peskov, it is also important to consider the complexity of the EU accession process: "We know the experience of many countries that have been placed in a long queue in this process."
