Tbilisi. 9 October. REPORT.AZ/ Georgia will impose penalties for maps distoring Georgia's territorial integrity. Report’s Georgia bureau informs that the due draft amendments have been introduced to the country's Criminal Code in this respect.

The draft amendments enviage a punishment up to two years in prison for those drafting, disseminating, selling, advertising, importing and exporting maps not reflecting occupied Abkhazia and South Ossetia.

The authors of the draft amendments are the Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee for Defense and Security Irakli Sesiashvili and committee member Otar Chordileli. The document will be submitted to the parliament soon.

Sesiaishvili said that the dissemination of maps distorting Georgia's territorial integrity is in contravention of the Georgian constitution, legislation and norms of international law. He stressed the need to impose penalties in such cases.
