More than 100 flights were delayed or canceled on Thursday morning at three Moscow airports - Vnukovo, Domodedovo, and Sheremetyevo.
As of Thursday morning, nine flights were delayed, 56 were canceled at Vnukovo airport, two flights were delayed, 18 were canceled at Domodedovo airport, nine flights were delayed, 16 were canceled at Sheremetyevo airport.
On Wednesday, US President Joseph Biden announced that the country is closing its airspace to Russian aircraft as new sanctions against Russia. The ban applies to all aircraft registered in Russia, including charter ones.
On Monday, the European Union banned any Russian aircraft from landing, taking off, or flying over EU territory.
