Baku. 20 June. REPORT.AZ/ "There are currently 3.5 million Syrian refugees in Turkey".
Report informs, Turkey's Chief Ombudsman Şeref Malkoç said at15th Baku International Conference of Ombudsmen “Role of National Human Rights Institutions in Ensuring Human Rights”.
He said that 8 percent of refugees live in camps, and the other part lives among the people: “If Turkey did not open the door to the Syrian refugees, Europe would suffer catastrophe. Because Europe could not accept such a migration”.
Malkoç said that 700 thousand Syrian refugees are currently studying at Turkish schools: “Turkey has spent more than $ 30 billion on Syrian refugees and internally displaced persons so far. Today, hundred thousands of Syrian refugees engaged in small entrepreneurship in Turkey”.
