New first deputy chief of Staff of Armenian Armed Forces appointed

Major General Kamo Kochunts has been appointed First Deputy Chief of Staff of the Armenian Armed Forces, Report informs via Sputnik Armenia.

The decree was signed by President Armen Sarkissian.

Before Kochunts, Arshak Karapetyan held the position. Karapetyan is currently the Defense Minister of Armenia.

Kamo Kochuns served in the Soviet Army for eight years. He is a veteran of the Afghan war. He served in the military in Afghanistan in 1985-1987. In 1992-1994, he took part in the occupation of Azerbaijan’s Karabakh region and adjacent areas.
