Nearly 30 people detained in Iran protests

Up to 30 people were detained during protests in Iran over the crash of Ukraine International Airlines flight, some of them released, Iran's judiciary spokesman Gholamhossein Esmaili said, Report informs, citing Tasnim.

“Detentions took place following recent events, but I have no information about the exact number of detainees.

"About 30 people, according to preliminary data," Esmaili said.

A representative of the Iranian judiciary said that after the trial, some of the detained citizens were released.

The Boeing 737-800 Ukraine International Airlines flight to Kyiv crashed shortly after leaving Tehran's airport on January 8. Iranian officials have admitted to accidentally shooting down a Ukraine International Airlines passenger jet on Wednesday, killing all 176 onboard.
