More than 300 police officers injured during Kazakhstan rallies

“More than 300 police officers were injured during the suppression of unauthorized rallies in Kazakhstan, six were hospitalized,” Interior Minister of Kazakhstan Yerlan Turgumbayev told, Report informs citing RIA Novosti.

The Interior Ministry reported that hundreds of people were detained on the voting day in the two largest cities of the country. Police also held mass detentions of protesters on Monday. The leader of the recognized extremist movement "Democratic choice of Kazakhstan" (DVK) Mukhtar Ablyazov, who lives in France, appealed to his supporters in social networks with a call to hold mass protests. He also urged supporters to boycott the presidential election.

According to the Interior Minister, the police officers received minor injuries, however there is a "fracture of the shin, craniocerebral trauma. All injuries were caused by sticks, stones, fittings used by these citizens, who destabilized the situation," the Minister said.
