Ministry: Georgian airspace closed to Russian military aircraft

"A Russian Air Force plane did not fly the airspace of Georgia," the Georgian bureau of Report informs, citing the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia.

"An Il-76 plane of the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry with registration number RA76429 used the airspace of Georgia. This flight was an ordinary civil flight that does not require any additional permissions from Georgia," the ministry said in a statement.

The ministry added that the Georgian airspace has been closed to Russian military aircraft since 2008 and accused Mtavari Arkhi TV channel of spreading misinformation.

Today the TV channel disseminated information, stating that a Russian military plane flew from Moscow to Yerevan using the Georgian airspace.
