Turkey has not received an invitation to the inauguration event of a new Afghanistan government, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu told NTV, Report informs.
"In Afghanistan, the new government must cover all groups and be inclusive. It would not be right for the Taliban to be made up entirely of Pashtuns. We have shared our thoughts with the Taliban," he said.
Çavuşoğlu also touched upon the issue of migration from Afghanistan: "The goal is to keep Afghans in their country. But this should not be obligatory. There is a threat of famine, economic hardship. Three million people fled Afghanistan last year. Now they mainly go to Pakistan, Tajikistan, and Iran. Some of those who came to Iran also migrate to our country. The issue cannot be approached simply from the security and humanitarian point of view. It would be best if both are synthesized. Everyone is talking about the large influx of migrants to Turkey. But no one is talking about those who left. We have sent 450,000 Syrians back to their country. We have also sent them to Pakistan and other countries."
"There is no agreement with Iran on the issue of migrants from Afghanistan. But there are tighter measures taken by the gendarmerie and other forces at the borders. Steps are being taken to prevent illegal migrants from entering Turkey. We also want Iran to take measures. The agreement on migrants with the European Union should also be amended," he said.
