Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu comments on Russia's suspension of flights to Turkey

"I do not see a political reason behind Russia's decision to restrict flights to Turkey," said Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, commenting on Russia's decision to suspend aviation to Turkey.

"Inevitably, this will have negative effects. We are working to restore flights. I do not see a political reason behind the decision," he stressed.

The Foreign Minister believes that Russia's decision is entirely related to the protection of human health: "We told them we want to cooperate with Russia in the way we did with Germany last year. In this context, a delegation from Russia will arrive in Turkey to investigate measures to combat the coronavirus."

Russia has decided to restrict flights to Turkey from April 15 to June 1 as part of the fight against the spread of COVID-19.
