Media worker dies after being beaten during anti-LGBT rally in Tbilisi

Lekso Lashkarava, a cameraman for the Georgian TV Pirveli, died after being beaten on July 5 during an anti-LGBT rally in Tbilisi, Report informs.

He received severe injuries, the bones of his face were broken, and he had to undergo surgery but was later discharged to complete treatment at home. According to his colleagues, his mother found him dead in bed on July 11.

The cause of death has not yet been officially announced. An investigation is underway.

Around 50 media representatives were injured during the rally. The police have detained about a dozen riot participants.
