Baku. October 22. REPORT.AZ Crown Prince telephoned the Washington Post columnist moments before he was killed in the Saudi consulate in Istanbul earlier this month.

Report informs citing Yeni Şafak that 'Khashoggi was detained by the Saudi team inside the consulate building. Then Prince Mohammed contacted Khashoggi by phone and tried to convince him to return to Riyadh', the report alleges.

“Khashoggi refused Prince Mohammed’s offer out of fear he would be arrested and killed if he returned. The assassination team then killed Khashoggi after the conversation ended.”

According to the newspaper, the journalist was killed following the phone conversation.

Notably,  journalist Jamal Khashoggi was killed inside the Saudi Consulate General in Istanbul. The Kingdom did not disclose the details of his murder. However, on October 20, Saudi Arabia officially acknowledged that the journalist was killed in the Consulate building. King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman expressed condolences to the family of Jamal Khashoggi.

By the information, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said that he would disclose all the facts on Jamal Khashoggi’s murder on October 23. He discussed this issue with US President Donald Trump on October 22.
