A mass burial was discovered in Batumi, the capital of the Autonomous Republic of Ajara, which is part of Georgia.

Report's Georgian bureau informs citing the diocese of Batumi and Lazeti that the burial was found near a military base, a few kilometers from the airport. The Georgian Defense Ministry has handed over this territory for the temporary use of the patriarchate.

The burial consists of 4 graves with the remains of about 150 people. It can be seen that the bodies of people were buried at random, without any honors. It is assumed that they are the victims of the Bolshevik repression of 1937-1937. Experts do not exclude that the remains belong to the Turkish military.

The remains discovered in the burial will be interred on April 21 in the territory of a military base.
