Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov cannot confirm reports that the Armenian authorities are discussing the feasibility of the presence of Russian border guards at Yerevan airport, Report informs.
“I cannot confirm these reports, although this fits well with the logic of the statements of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Speaker of the Armenian Parliament Alen Simonyan,” he said at a briefing at the III Antalya Diplomacy Forum.
He noted that some Armenian figures call cooperation between Yerevan and Moscow in the last three decades, since 1994, a mistake.
In addition, according to the minister, Armenia accuses Russia of failure to fulfill its commitments under the CSTO. “For what purpose they are doing this and introducing it into the consciousness of the Armenian people is unclear,” the minister noted.
Lavrov emphasized that some forces want to remove Russia from the South Caucasus region and provoke such accusations from the outside.
“It is enough to remember what has happened over the past 50 years - Vietnam, Afghanistan, Lebanon, Syria. Proceeding from this, we can predict what the result of the arrival of the US, the UK and Europe in the South Caucasus will be,” Lavrov concluded.
