Kazakhstan sees record surge in COVID cases

Over the past day, Kazakhstan recorded 6,521 cases of coronavirus infection - 402 more than the day before, which is the country's highest figure since the beginning of the pandemic, Report informs via foreign media.
According to official data, to date, 522,638 people have contracted the novel coronavirus, which is 2.7% of Kazakhstan's 18.9 million population.
Over the past 24 hours, 2,802 of the infected recovered, bringing the total number of recoveries to 444,239.
The coronavirus death toll has reached 5,308, with 64 COVID-related deaths over the past day.
