The Parliament of Kazakhstana adopted a law on renaming the capital of the Republic from Astana to Nursultan - in honor of the first President Nursultan Nazarbayev at a joint session of the chambers, Report informs citing the TASS.
Deputies of the lower and upper chambers of Kazakhstan Parliament unanimously voted for the proposed amendments, considering them in the first and second and final reading.
Thus, the law is considered to be adopted by the Parliament as a whole, then it will be submitted for signature to the President.
Earlier, the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev proposed to name the capital of the Republic in honor of Nursultan Nazarbayev.
