Joint Coordinating Center for Grain Corridor opens in Istanbul

The opening ceremony of the Joint Coordination Center (JCC), created to implement the provisions of the Initiative of Understanding for the safe transportation of grain from the ports of Ukraine, is being held in Istanbul, Report informs via Anadolu Agency.

Turkish National Defense Minister Hulusi Akar is taking part in the ceremony.

The grain corridor agreement was signed on July 22 in Istanbul with the participation of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and UN Secretary-General António Guterres. The document was signed by Ukraine, Russia, the UN and Turkiye representatives.

The center operates on the territory of the Turkish National Defense University.

Along with representatives of Turkiye, Ukraine and the Russian Federation, diplomats from the UN also work there.

Through the center, it is planned, if necessary, to inspect ships involved in the export of grain from three Black Sea ports of Ukraine (Odesa, Chornomorsk, Yuzhny).
