Istanbul mayor: Azerbaijanis made great contribution to Independence War

"The Turkish Republic was established after the Day of Victory, which we are celebrating today," Istanbul mayor Ekrem Imamoglu told Report's Turkish bureau.

"We are approaching the 100th anniversary since the creation of our republic, and today we have other commitments that we need to fulfill," he said.

The mayor noted that just like in other periods of history, Azerbaijanis had made a significant contribution to the struggle of the Turkish people in the Independence War.

"Just like now, in the Independence war and before it, we fought shoulder to shoulder with our Azerbaijani brothers, who made a great contribution to the Independence War of the Turkish people. We achieved great success together. We are always together. Therefore, I am sending our congratulations to all of Azerbaijan, our Azerbaijani brothers, and I would like to say once again that we love them very much," he said.
