The Supreme Court of Iran has upheld the death sentence for Yasin Huseinzadeh, who was found guilty of the terrorist attack on the Azerbaijani embassy in Tehran, Iranian judicial system representative Asker Jahangiri said at a press conference,

Report informs via ISNA that the verdict has been sent to the Tehran court for execution. According to the information, the sentence will be carried out after the convict's parents come to meet with him.

The Embassy of Azerbaijan in Iran was attacked on the morning of January 23, 2023. The attacker broke through the diplomatic mission's security post and killed the head of security with a Kalashnikov gun. Two more embassy security officers were wounded while repelling the attack. After the incident, the diplomatic mission ceased its operations in Tehran. The diplomatic mission resumed its activities in July last year at a new address following negotiations between Baku and Tehran.
