Iran to scale back its nuclear pack committments

Iran has said the country plans to quadruple production of low-level enriched uranium and will reach the limit of the stockpile allowed under the nuclear deal within days.

The spokesperson for Iran's Atomic Energy Organization (AEOI), Behrouz Kamalvandi, said on Monday Iran would reach the allowed 300kg level of enriched uranium at levels mandated by the 2015 deal on June 27.

"Today begins the overcoming of the 300 kilograms enriched uranium storage ceiling, which will be 10 days, in other words, on June 27, we will overcome this ceiling," said the representative of the organization.

The joint comprehensive plan of action on the Iranian nuclear program (FASD) suggests that Iran should sell surplus of enriched uranium to other countries if its volumes exceed 300 kg.

Note that Iran previously announced the suspension of the implementation of a number of agreements on the Joint Comprehensive Action Plan on the Iranian nuclear program of 2015 due to US actions.

Recall that last year the United States announced their withdrawal from a nuclear deal with Iran, arguing that Tehran "continues to develop nuclear weapons," which violates the agreement.
