The total number of people diagnosed with the coronavirus in Iran has reached 80,868, of whom 5,031 have died, and 55,987 recovered, Report informs, citing IRNA.

Meanwhile, 1,374 new patients identified over the past 24 hours, Health Ministry spokesman Kianoush Jahanpour said.

He added that 73 more people have died from the coronavirus.

At the same time, Kianoush Jahanpour said that 3,513 people are in critical condition.

23 MPs, as well as parliament speaker Ali Larijani, the first Vice-President Ishag Jahangiri, Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade Reza Rahmani, Deputy Minister of Health Iraj Harirchi, Vice-President Masoumeh Ebtekar, top advisor of Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Akbar Velayati, head of the National Disaster Management Organization Ismail Najjar, and former Minister of Justice Mustafa Purmahammadi, were infected with the coronavirus.

Moreover, MP Fatima Rahbar, former ambassador of Iran to Vatican Hadi Khosrowshahi, a member of the Expediency Council Seyed Mohammad Mirmohammadi, advisor to the foreign minister Hossein Sheikholeslam, member of Assembly of Experts Sayyid Hashim Bathayi died from coronavirus.

MP Zohreh Elahian and Deputy Minister of Health Iraj Harirchi have recovered.

The novel coronavirus (COVID-19) emerged in late 2019 in China's Hubei province, and the virus has spread to 210 countries and territories since then.

To date, COVID-19 cases surpassed 2,261,037 globally, resulting in more than 578,964 recoveries and over 154,726 deaths.
