Gusman: Holding 5th Congress of World Azerbaijanis in Shusha - historic event

“This is a great historical event that the 5th Congress of World Azerbaijanis is being held in the liberated Shusha. We have been waiting for this day for many years,” Mikhail Gusman, first deputy director-general of TASS, told the Russian bureau of Report.

At the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO), students of the Azerbaijani community held a meeting with Mikhail Gusman the Open Talk format, where everyone had the opportunity to ask a question of interest to them.

Gusman spoke about his memories of Baku: “I lived half my life in Baku. I have the best memories of this city. These are memories of a great city that to this day remains very kind, open to people who accept people.”

During his speech, he also recalled the meeting with national leader Heydar Aliyev.

The Congress will be the first major meeting of the Azerbaijani diaspora after the liberation of Karabakh. What makes the congress historic is that it will be held in Shusha, the cultural capital of the Turkic world. The event is expected to bring together about 400 representatives of diasporas from 65 countries.
