Turkmenistan’s President pardons more than 500 prisoners

On the eve of the International Day of Neutrality, Turkmenistan’s President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov pardoned 528 prisoners, Report informs citing the Interfax.

The decree on pardon was signed by the head of state on the eve of an expanded government meeting.

The document exempts 528 citizens from serving the main punishment, in the form of imprisonment, as well as from additional punishment, in the form of imposing the obligation to live in a certain area.

According to the decree, the pardon is carried out in accordance with the principles of mercy and humanism, in order to strengthen the unity and cohesion of the Turkmen society and each family, as well as on the occasion of the International Day of Neutrality.
