Georgian Prime Minister: Bidzina Ivanishvili has made an unprecedented decision
Report/ Elshan Baba

"Chairman of the Georgian ruling party Bidzina Ivanishvili has made an unprecedented decision," Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze said.

He said the decision to hold the parliamentary elections on a proportional system was discussed in detail in 2020 and the team unanimously supported the decision.

The prime minister said the proportional electoral system was supposed to be applied by 2024 on the initiative of the ruling party: "The decision on this issue has been changed. More parties will be represented in the parliament with a proportional system and this will help establish full-fledged parliamentary democracy in Georgia."
