Georgia's State Inspectorate Service has completed a probe into the legality of the acquisition and dissemination of personal information of former President Mikheil Saakashvili.

According to the local bureau of Report, the Georgian Justice Ministry and the Special Penitentiary Service were held responsible in an administrative order.

The service assessed the former president's purchase of food in the penitentiary's store, the distribution of information about his diet, as well as videos of his food intake and his transfer to the Gldani from Rustavi prison to a medical facility as a violation of personal data protection legislation.

In addition to imposing fines on the Justice Ministry and the Special Penitentiary Service, both agencies were instructed to delete posts on Facebook, as well as on their official websites, containing information about Saakashvili's personal information.
