"Reports on the sale of the Georgian port of Batumi to Armenia are untrue," Georgian Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Natia Turnava said.
According to Report's Georgian bureau, she said the state did not own the port: "Therefore, the state cannot sell the port. A Kazakhstani company has run Batumi port for a long time. We do not have any information on the interest of the Armenian side in the port. Otherwise, we would know about it."
Armenian Jamanak newspaper writes that the country is interested in buying the Georgian port of Batumi. According to the publication, various circles of Armenia are trying to arrange to fundraise for the port. The newspaper claims that the acquisition of the Batumi port will provide unimpeded transportation of goods to Armenia.
