Georgian analyst highlights Azerbaijan's energy potential

No country in the South Caucasus or the wider region can match Azerbaijan's energy potential, former head of Georgia's Presidential Administration, political analyst and professor Petre Mamradze said, Report's Georgian bureau informs.

He noted that Azerbaijan has major resources.

"Everyone knows that Azerbaijan has large resources and very great potential in terms of energy. No one in the South Caucasus, or in the region as a whole, can be compared with Azerbaijan," Mamradze said.

According to him, President Ilham Aliyev's special attention to the development of energy networks is of great importance.

The political analyst said current discussions on the possibility of transmitting electricity from Azerbaijan to Nakhchivan and from there to Türkiye are important in terms of regional cooperation.

Mamradze believes these processes are also an important indicator for the formation of lasting peace in the South Caucasus.

He noted that the continued discussions on the Zangazur Corridor and the possibility of delivering electricity through Armenian territory to Nakhchivan and then to Türkiye point to new prospects for cooperation in the region.

"Currently, there is talk of delivering it directly through Armenian territory, via Nakhchivan and then to Türkiye. This is a very good development," he said.
