PM: Georgia will not have diplomatic relations with Russia until the end of occupation

Tbilisi. 26 February. REPORT.AZ/ "Georgia has no diplomatic relations with Russia, and these relations will not be established until the end of occupation " The Georgian Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze said.

He also commented on the necessity of holding meetings in Abashidze-Karasin format: "This format was created a few years ago and we remember the reason why it was created. This format has directions mainly related to economic and humanitarian issues. We will not have diplomatic relations with Russia as long as this country holds Georgian lands under occupation. This is a very principal issue. "
Notably, Zurab Abashidze, Special Representative of Georgian PM for Russian Relations Issue and Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Grigory Karasin have been held an informal dialogue since the beginning of 2012 in the absence of diplomatic relations between the two countries. The next meeting in the Abashidze-Karasin format will be held in Prague on February 27.
Diplomatic relations between Georgia and Russia were cut in 2008.
