Georgia to create state minister post for regional policy

A post of state minister for regional policy will be created in the structure of the Georgian government, Report informs.

Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze announced the decision at a briefing at the government administration.

According to him, Mamuka Mdinaradze will be appointed to the post and will also continue serving as deputy prime minister.

Kobakhidze said strengthening regional policy is currently one of the main priorities facing the state.

He added that Mdinaradze will serve as acting regional development minister until the first week of September. During the same period, the post of state minister for law enforcement affairs will be abolished by law.

With the creation of the new post, the Regional Development Ministry will be abolished in September. Kakha Guledani, who is currently acting minister, will be appointed first deputy minister at the Infrastructure Ministry.
