Armenia must hold a referendum to remove territorial claims against Azerbaijan from its constitution, Gaya Mammadov, Member of Azerbaijani Parliament, said at the event under the theme New Geopolitical Realities in the South Caucasus: Azerbaijan and the Peace Agenda.
Report quotes Mammadov as saying that Azerbaijan's efforts toward a peace agenda are commendable: "The next step is the removal of provisions in Armenia's constitution that assert territorial claims against Azerbaijan. The necessity of this has been repeatedly highlighted. By adopting that constitution, Armenian society formalized its territorial claims against Azerbaijan. Therefore, Armenia must hold a referendum to eliminate these claims."
