Erdogan: Turkey unable to cope with additional burden of migration from Syria or Afghanistan

Turkish military contingent is returning from Afghanistan, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said, addressing the ambassadors of several countries in the eastern province of Bitlis, Report informs referring to Anadolu Agency.

He said that Ankara perceives the statements of the leaders of the Taliban movement with ‘cautious optimism.’

Erdogan stressed that the future of the processes in Afghanistan will be determined not by words but by the actions of the Taliban.

“Ensuring stability in Afghanistan is of particular importance. To achieve this goal, Ankara will continue a close dialogue with all parties in Afghanistan,” the president said.

At the same time, he added that Turkey, as a country that opened its doors to more than 5 million refugees and migrants, is unable to cope with the additional burden of migration from Syria or Afghanistan.
