Erdogan reminds Sweden, Finland of their promises to Turkiye

Turkiye will not ratify the entry of Sweden and Finland into NATO until they fulfill their promises to Ankara, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said, Report informs via Haber Global.

“We will not change our position until the promises made to our country are fulfilled. We are watching closely to see if Sweden and Finland keep their promises. And after that, of course, our parliament will make the final decision,” Erdogan noted.

Turkiye insists that Sweden and Finland change their positions regarding the PKK. Ankara also insists on the extradition of several Kurdish activists from Sweden and Finland.

Presently, the admission of the Nordic countries to NATO has been ratified by 28 out of 30 members. Only Turkiye and Hungary have not done so yet.
