Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will travel to New York on September 19 to attend the 76th session of the UN General Assembly, Report informs.

During his three-day visit, the Turkish leader will make a speech on the first day of the UN meeting.

The General Assembly meeting is dedicated to the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, the development of sustainability, and respect for human rights.

Erdogan will also inaugurate the New York Turkish House, the construction of which started in 2017.

The opening ceremony, postponed for a year due to the pandemic, will take place on September 20. The Turkish House is located in one of the most prestigious areas of New York, in front of the UN headquarters. The building will house Turkey's Permanent Mission to the United Nations and Consulate General in New York.

The Turkish president will also meet with the leaders of several countries and UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.
