The number of people killed in the shooting at Perm State University has risen to eight, Report informs, citing TASS.

According to the press service of the Investigative Committee, a student who opened fire in the university has been identified. He showed resistance during arrest and was wounded.

A criminal case has been launched into the fact under the article of killing two or more people.

Up to five people were killed and 14 more were injured as a result of the shooting in Russia’s Perm State University, according to the press service of the local Health Ministry, Report informs referring to TASS.

“Nine ambulance teams are working there. The injuries are of different nature, because there were even those who jumped out of the university windows. That is, not all were injured by the shooter,” the ministry said.

According to the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, the unidentified person who started shooting at the Perm State University was detained, and he turned out to be a student.

The Russian Interior confirmed his arrest.

According to RIA Novosti, some of the students and teachers locked themselves in university auditoriums.

An unidentified person has opened fire in one of the buildings of Russia’s Perm State University, leaving several people wounded, according to preliminary reports, a source in law enforcement agencies told TASS on September 20, Report informs.

“On Monday, an unidentified person entered the university building and opened fire. Some students locked themselves in university auditoriums to hide from the attacker. Some students jumped out of the windows. Law enforcement agents are heading to the site,” the source noted.

Four people were injured in the university shooting in Perm, the press service reported.

It was also noted that the person who opened fire was armed with ‘traumatic’ non-lethal weapon.
